Bertelsmann Group revenues from continuing operations rose 2.5 percent year-on-year, to 8.0 billion euros from 7.8 billion euros. The reported Group revenues were at highest level since 2007.   First-half Group net income increased by more than 50 percent to 398 million euros from 257 million euros, prior year.  Earnings before interest and taxes, or EBIT, was 670 million euros compared to 557 million euros.

Bertelsmann CEO Thomas Rabe said: “If there is no downturn in the global economy, we expect higher revenues and operating EBITDA for the full year due to the ongoing transformation of our Group. In the medium term, we intend to significantly increase Group net income towards 1 billion euros.”
