Three BIIA members presented at the recent World Bank Financial Infrastructure Week 2015 which was held in Istanbul, Turkey. 

Wang XiaoleiMadam Xiaolei Wang, Deputy Director General of the Credit Reference Center of the People’s Bank of China spoke about the Secured Transactions Reform in China.

Madam Wang concluded that China is now the single largest market for factoring services due to these reforms.  She also participated in the panel on implementing  the General Principals for Credit Reporting.

Carlos IMG_2798Carlos Fernandez Inigo, Deputy General Manager, Informa D&B participated in a panel on credit information on small and medium enterprises: Challenges and opportunities for credit reporting systems.  The panelists discussed the recommendations of the International Committee on Credit Reporting about the challenges of assessing the creditworthiness of an SME.   Carlos presented the Spanish case study: Financial_Week_Istanbul2015(CFv2)

, General Manager  Credit Bureau Services at CRIF and BIIA director participated in a panel on credit scoring challenges.  The panel and the audience engaged in a lively discussion of how to overcome the prejudices against credit scoring, often misconstued as credit ratings and profiling.  Notwithstanding the values of credit scoring in risk assessment and fraud prevention a negative connotation prevails which needs to be overcome by consumer education.
