BIIA Management attended the recent annual meeting of ACCIS (Association of Consumer Credit Information Services) in Budapest.   BIIA thanks the executive committee of ACCIS, for their kind invitation and congratulates Neil Munroe (Equifax) for being elected President of ACCIS.  In his opening speech Neil Munroe stressed several important issues facing the industry.  Lending and consumer spending are still subdued and consumer defaults are continuing to rise.  There is increased concern about how consumers can be protected in terms of over-indebtedness and identity theft.  In view of the crisis there are thoughts developing on how the credit market can be stimulated to grow responsibly.  As an outgrowth of the crisis there is increased consideration of new regulation, standards etc., and there is increased awareness by regulators of the use of credit bureau data and its importance.
