Welcome to the twenty second monthly newsletter designed to keep BIIA members informed of the significant developments on the policy dossiers being worked on in Europe and in other geographical territories.

SUMMARY

With the deadline looming there have been a number of developments in April on GDPR, with the Article 29 Working Party issuing guidance on consent, one of the most important parts of the regulation as well as guidance on transparency. We have also started to see activity from privacy regulators in some of the countries in Europe releasing tools and providing guidance to help organization with the implementation. Expect to see even more of this activity in the last few weeks before the deadline.

There has also been activity on FinTech and digitization both in Brussels and Frankfurt as policy makers and regulators continue to try and get to grips with the new world of technology and data.

In summary a busy month, with no doubt even busier months to follow.
