Chinese exporters are loosing billions of dollars in unpaid export bills simply because they fail to perform credit checks on their clients and are reluctant to engage in rigorous debt collection.   According to a survey of 500 exporters published by the Ministry of Commerce, Chinese exporters failed to collect 5% of their export revenue, more than 10% of the level of their counterparts in developed countries.  The numbers are indeed staggering: Out of US$ 593.4 billion, exporters lost US$ 30 billion in unpaid export revenue (Source: South China Morning Post, Thursday September 22, 2005 B2 Business Section).
