Experian has acquired Sentinel Peru, one of the leading credit bureau and information services businesses in Peru

Experian has operated a credit bureau in Peru since 2011 and the acquisition will bring together the best of both organisations to extend services to both businesses and consumers. Sentinel Peru has also operated in the market since 2011, helping businesses with credit origination, portfolio management and collections activities, and helping consumers to better control and plan their financial commitments.

Sentinel Peru is highly complementary to Experian’s operations in Peru. The company has a strong presence in the small and medium enterprise segment, in business credit and has established relationships with 1.4 million consumer members offering credit reports and scores. This compares to Experian’s strengths in the financial and telecommunications sector and nascent offers for consumers.

Valdemir Bertolo, COO, Experian Spanish Latin America said “We are delighted to welcome the Sentinel Peru team to Experian. With a population of 32m in Peru, 14m of whom are unbanked, there is significant potential to establish greater access to financial services. We also believe that many small and medium sized enterprises have the potential to benefit from greater access to data and advanced analytics to develop and grow their businesses.”

José Luiz Rossi, Managing Director, Experian Latin America commented “Sentinel Peru is a stand-out company, with an innovative and flexible culture, that complements Experian’s experience and global scale. Together we will play a pivotal role in driving financial inclusion and promoting fair and affordable access to credit in Peru, and across the Latin America region.”

Sentinel Peru will be reported within our Latin America, Data segment.
