Experian launched Precise ID Personal Protection Alerts, a service designed to help people know which businesses are checking out their personal information to authenticate transactions. The alerts are aimed at reducing the risk of identity fraud.

The service sends notifications to consumers whenever their identity has been verified across the Experian identity services product line. Consumers can respond to the notifications and are directed to reconciliation services in cases of potential fraud, said the company.

Alerts can be sent via SMS, mobile app, email or web applications. The content of the alerts will include: inquiry information, transaction details and client provider fraud contact information.

The new service is available to Experian’s direct-to-consumer companies.
