FICO, a data analytics company, has partnered with eDriving and has launched the latest version of the FICO Safe Driving Score in eDriving’s smartphone-based driver risk management solution.

The risk management solution, Mentor by eDriving, has optimized its FICO Safe Driving Score to better predict the likelihood of future collisions.

Following validation of its predictive ability using a large-scale, naturalistic driving data set from the Strategic Highway Research Program 2 (SHRP 2) study, the latest version enables fleet safety managers to recognize, encourage and ensure a safer driving experience. It identifies with an 18 percent improvement in predictive accuracy, drivers who are “high risk” versus those identified as “low risk.”

High risk drivers are those who are 30 percent more likely to be involved in a collision.

The score uses telematics-based driving data from eDriving’s app to analyze acceleration, braking, cornering, speeding and cellphone distraction. After each trip, drivers  receive their FICO Safe Driving Score. Each driver also receives 3 to 5 minute coaching modules to help improve identified “at risk” behaviors and attitudes.
