Forrester released its The State Of IoT Security 2018 report, which outlines the current internet of things (IoT) threat landscape and how businesses can protect themselves.

Forrester found that while 92% of global technology enterprise security decision makers have security policies in place for managing IoT devices, only 47% of them say they have the sufficient tools to enforce these policies, and 10% don’t even have the tools to enforce these policies at all.

Additional key findings from the research include:

  • Some 49% of global technology security decision makers expect their firm to increase IoT security spending this year.
  • Privacy concerns, integration challenges, and risk of migration or installation are the top three challenges among security decision makers when implementing IoT security.
  • Among the IoT apps that enterprise firms have implemented, 43% have implemented intelligent customer services, 41% have implemented smart products, and 37% have implemented inventory management/warehouse management.

In addition, Forrester released research on the top trends shaping identity and access management (IAM) in 2018. These trends examine the impact of GDPR compliance, the immaturity of identity intelligence, and the extension of behavior biometrics to mobile.
