Apple sold 153m smartphones last year, an increase from 136m in 2012 but representing a decline in market share from 19 per cent to 15 per cent.  Samsung, which produces a far wider range of smartphones than its US rival and ranks as the world’s top smartphone vendor, increased its market share from 30 per cent to 31 per cent, shipping 314m devices.    Source:  IDC and Financial Times
