NASDAQ-listed Global Sources announced last week that the company plans to launch a new edition of its China Sourcing Fairs in South Africa. The first South African event will be held in December 2010 in Johannesburg. The company’s press release noted that trade between Africa and China is booming. In the first seven months of 2009, Chinese exports to Africa expanded by close to 40% and were valued at US$28 billion.

The first edition of the China Sourcing Fair in South Africa will feature a wide variety of exhibitor segments including gifts & premiums, home products, electronics & components, hardware & building materials, baby & children’s products and garments & textiles. The company is expecting the inaugural edition to feature approximately 500 booths.  In addition to its online and print operations, Global Sources hosts sourcing exhibitions in Dubai, Mumbai, Hong Kong and across mainland China.   Source: Global Sources press release
