Google is acquiring a translate-on-the-go application developer, seeking to bolster its mobile services. Google is acquiring Quest Visual Inc., whose Word Lens app lets users translate signs with their smartphone cameras. The application is available for users of Android-based devices, Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPhones and Glass, Google’s computerized eyewear, according to Quest Visual’s website.
Google is ramping up acquisitions as it looks to expand the appeal of its online features. This month, the Mountain View, California-based company announced deals for Stackdriver Inc., a startup that specializes in helping companies use online computing services, and Adometry Inc. to boost its Web measurement and analysis services.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
