Both companies have signed an agreement for the marketing of unsolicited ratings of SMEs “gazelle” at a price between 500 and 1,500 euros

INBONIS Rating, the first rating agency specialized in SMEs in Europe, and INFORMA D&B SAU (SME), a subsidiary of CESCE and leader in the supply of business information, have reached a framework agreement to deploy the credit rating of SMEs in Spain.

Under this strategic alliance, INFORMA D&B will be able to commercialize the unsolicited ratings made by INBONIS in a universe of 1,000 high-growth Spanish SMEs (over 20% per year in the last three years), with revenues between 5 and 25 million and a debt of more than 500,000 euros.

The new rating agency has published today on its website the first list of qualified ‘gazelle’ SMEs, consisting of 20 high-tech services companies, which will be completed with another 10 in the field in the coming days. This is the first time that a rating agency registered by the ESMA (European Securities and Markets Authority) provides coverage to an SME sector.

The commercialization of these SME ratings constitutes the first step for the adoption of the rating as an element of objectification of the risk of SMEs by the financial market. Those interested can access the rating reports by unit or package, so that the unit price of each rating will range between 500 and 1,500 euros.

In the context of the alliance between INFORMA D&B and INBONIS Rating, the gradual issuance and commercialization of ratings of SMEs from different sectors (for example, machine tool manufacturers, wine producers, etc.) is planned in the coming months.

“With the collaboration of INFORMA D&B, we will accelerate the democratization of the credit rating and multiply our impact on SMEs. Thanks to its commercial force, our ratings will serve more companies, which will get more and better financing, ”said Alberto Sánchez Navalpotro, CEO of INBONIS Rating.

Juan M.ª Sainz Muñoz, CEO of INFORMA D&B, explained that: “The ratings that INBONIS will prepare for many Spanish SMEs will facilitate access to them by multiple actors in the credit and financial market for operations for which They did not request them for their high price. INFORMA will commercialize the ratings made by the agency”.

The credit ratings of SMEs can be used:

  • For SMEs, which can identify areas of vulnerability and offer greater transparency to their business and financial partners.
  • By funders, to have a better understanding of credit risk (in admission and in portfolio follow-up), or to compare internal models for calculating provisions or regulatory capital.
  • For the public sector, to support decision-making in the granting of subsidies or financing or to evaluate soundness criteria in public tenders.
  • For the large groups, who want to know their suppliers (often SMEs) better and improve the management of commercial credit risk.
