India intends to catch up with China in the field of patents and trademarks.  Sources in the commerce ministry indicated it will shortly launch a national awareness, sensitization and consultancy program by bringing in universities, laboratories, state-level chambers of commerce and industry, patent attorneys, and the scientific community.  The purpose of the campaign is to promote intellectual property and to boost the proprietary rights culture in India.  Source: Economic Times of India
