For members and information professionals with a keen interest in industry advocacy and compliance we are holding our 11th BIIA Regulatory Affairs Forum on December 7th, 2021 from 08.00 to 09.00 Eastern time US to hear from Gary Friedlander, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel – international for TransUnion and BIIA Board member on the key trends in regulatory developments from around the world.

In his role, Gary is responsible for providing legal and business guidance to all levels of domestic and international management and internal operation units. As a member of the TransUnion International Leadership team, Mr. Friedlander is a subject matter expert in dealing with a wide variety of legislative, regulatory and business issues including data protection and complex global intellectual property and technology transfer agreements. He oversees and manages a team of in-house attorneys located in the U.S., Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Kenya, Philippines, and South Africa along with several international and domestic outside counsel and serves on the Boards of TransUnion companies in Africa, Asia, Canada, and Central America, including TransUnion CIBIL, India’s oldest and largest credit information company.

The Regulatory Affairs Forum was set up at the beginning of 2019 in response to feedback from members and is chaired by Neil Munroe, Deputy Managing Director.

The Forums objectives are:

  • To facilitate the sharing of information on regulatory developments and
  • to discuss how BIIA might be able to support members in influencing policymakers and regulators.

Membership of the Forum is open to all BIIA Members and meetings are held virtually. Current membership consists of both global and regional/country companies involved in business and consumer information services and other related industries with countries represented including Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Cambodia, Germany, Iceland, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, UK and the US.
