LexisNexis UK (www.lexisnexis.co.uk), a leading provider of content and technology solutions, today announced the full launch of their comprehensive Lexis®PSL service for lawyers, covering 25 practice areas.   The LexisPSL service combines the practice notes, time-saving tools, precedents and checklists required for contemporary legal practice, with direct links through to the primary law and the authoritative industry standard titles for which LexisNexis is known.  Practitioners can instantly navigate from the “what” and “how” of the law to the “why”, with materials from key texts including Halsbury’s, Butterworth’s and Tolley, as well as specialist legal magazines and journals.

David Curle, Director & Lead Analyst of Outsell Inc. writes in his latest Outsell Insight:  “LexisNexis offers a new interface that’s a little more interesting, that makes news updates more prominent, and that makes launching into the service in search mode more prominent.  More extensive linking to other LexisNexis primary and secondary legal sources.   New productivity tools, including various kinds of calculators and document drafting tools.

LexisNexis executives think it’s now a proper fight, with a range of practice areas that more clearly aligns with PLC’s offering.  Even with aggressive pricing, the big challenge will lie in convincing UK lawyers to try an alternative to a product they are perfectly happy with and that has become entrenched into their work lives”.

Reed Elsevier reported recently that LexisNexis Legal revenues are flat for the first half of 2012, which explains the latest move to ramp up the service scope one notch to capture market share.
