November highlights are as follows:
- 75% of credit providers reported higher arrears in October compared to September 2022. Just over 11% of credit active Kiwis are behind on their repayments, with 4.2% past due by 30+ days.
- Buy Now Pay Later enquiries have risen with Black Friday sales and the festive shopping season approaching.
- New mortgage borrowing is down 36% on last year, however the rate of decline is easing as more first home buyers enter the property market.
- Hospitality credit ratings have improved in November as the return of international tourism and arrival of summer lifts customer activity.
