Salesforce Marketing Cloud announced it is laying off 200 employees — approximately a third of which are located at the company’s New Brunswick offices – following a round of cuts that last fall that affected more than 100 jobs.
In a statement, Salesforce.com attributed the layoffs to its recent acquisition of digital marketing software developer ExactTarget. Salesforce.com develops cloud-based software for businesses in a variety of areas, including sales, marketing, customer service and corporate social networking.
It is also possible that the company is shedding staff due to the fact that it still produces an operating loss. According to its Q2 earnings release the cumulative operating loss for the first six month was (US$ 82 million). The net income for six month was US$ 8.8 million as a result of a tax credit.
