Outsell Inc. has issued its annual report on the Search, Aggregation & Syndication Information Market Segment for 2009.  The market generated over $48.7 billion in revenue – just $0.5 billion dollars more than the previous year. It remains a market fuelled by the migration of advertising dollars online; most of the growth attributed to the segment is in the form of advertising spending.   Growth in 2009 was a meager 1.1%, a dramatic decline from the 16.1% growth it experienced the year before. This slowdown had actually begun in the fourth quarter of 2008 and lasted throughout the majority of 2009.   Source: Outsell Inc.

Notwithstanding the significant declines, Google managed to grow by 8.5%, Baidu, by 41%, Sohu.com by 20.1%, while Yahoo declined by 10.4% and AOL by 10.8%.
