Sargeant moves to SugarCRM following nearly three years as CMO with global e-commerce cloud-based solutions provider ChannelAdvisor, where she ran worldwide marketing initiatives, including corporate and product branding, demand generation, product marketing, public relations and event management. Prior to that role, Sargeant was Vice President of Marketing at Avalara and, in total, has more than 25 years of marketing experience in the tech sector, developing expertise in areas including go-to-market strategy & execution, loyalty, content marketing and digital demand generation.
News of the appointment further underpins SugarCRM’s strategy of global growth, following the announcement in July of a strategic and significant investment from technology-focused private equity firm Accel-KKR.
SugarCRM chief executive officer, Larry Augustin, said: “As we reflect on another 12 months of significant growth, market recognition and high customer satisfaction, we are delighted to welcome Melissa Sargeant as SugarCRM’s new Chief Marketing Officer to help us build on our success.
“Melissa is recognized throughout the tech industry for her ability to identify and react to market trends while aligning sales and marketing strategies with business objectives to generate significant growth.
“She will leverage her experience and expertise in marketing global B2B SaaS technologies and solutions to drive growth at what is a crucial point in SugarCRM’s development.”
Sargeant said: “I am delighted to be joining SugarCRM in this exciting growth phase as the business transforms to deliver next level growth. “My role will be to deliver a dynamic, predictable and scalable marketing organization that drives growth and brand awareness in our ‘sweet spot’.”
More than 2 million individuals in over 120 countries rely on Silicon Valley-based SugarCRM to increase leads, skyrocket sales, save time and improve customer experience. It is the world’s #1 rated CRM platform.
