Revenues from ongoing businesses were $3.2 billion, a 1% increase before currency, -1% after currency (revenues from ongoing businesses).
The segment of interest to members of BIIA would be Thomson Reuters Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) segment. Compared to the overall size of Thomson Reuters the GRC segment is relatively small, however it grew at 17% to US$55 million signifying the significance of these services in today’s risk environment.
Thomson Reuters GRC business was recently named by Gartner, Inc. to the prestigious “Leaders Quadrant of the Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance Platforms Magic Quadrant.” The announcement was made following Gartner`s evaluation of Thomson Reuters Enterprise GRC solution on completeness of vision and ability to execute.
Financial and risk segment was flat with revenues of US$ 1,778 million. Legal segment was US$ 830 million up 2%. Tax & Accounting was US$262 up 10%. Intellectual property and science was US$213 million up 3%. Corporate and other including Media was up1% to US$ 219 million.
Outlook: Thomson Reuters today reaffirmed its business outlook for 2012. The company continues to expect its revenues to grow low single-digits in 2012; adjusted EBITDA margin to range between 27% and 28% in 2012; underlying operating profit margin to range between 18% and 19% in 2012 due to higher depreciation and amortization expense; and reported free cash flow to grow 5% to 10% and free cash flow from ongoing operations to grow 15% to 20% in 2012.
