According to OUTSELL’S 2009 Information Industry Market Size, Share & Forecast Report, the 2009 the market for Yellow Pages and Directory Services continues to erode.   Outsell projects a further decline in 2010 and no growth for the following two years.  OUTSELL stated in its report that in the short term, it’s all about the economy. As it improves and businesses start expanding and advertising, the Yellow Pages market will not grow in general but rising advertising expenditures will tend to help all formats and ad vehicles.

However long-term and structural, is the continued use of the internet as a purchasing channel. As this continues, website owners will not be advertising in yellow pages. It then follows that print advertising, which has been the primary revenue source for yellow pages companies, will decline.
