Session 3 – Analytics in the age of technology – the new era of applied intelligence

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and automation into data analysis has triggered a shift from purely retrospective reporting to “applied intelligence”—a proactive, action-oriented approach to decision-making.

Traditionally, analytics was descriptive, focusing on past data to understand “what happened.” The new era, propelled by technology, utilizes AI to move up the maturity curve with applied intelligence being the synthesis of the “Three A’s” (Analytics, AI, Automation).

This session looks at examples where the “Three A’s” are being used in combination with trusted data to support sustainable growth in lending.

Regulatory compliance for data and applied intelligence involves adhering to a growing web of global laws, ethical standards, and technical frameworks designed to ensure AI systems are secure, transparent, and accountable

Critical data and AI compliance issues include:

  • data privacy and security
  • bias and fairness
  • transparency and explainability
  • cross-border data transfers

This session will explore developments in the regulatory landscape across the globe, their impact on the information industry and the industries we serve and what the information industry needs to do to ensure they remain at the centre of providing trusted data

17.00 – 17.15  Summary of Day One and Close

Session 5 – The importance of ‘Know Your …’ processes

In today’s complex, digitized, and regulated business landscape, establishing the true identity of partners and clients is critical for fraud prevention, AML (Anti-Money Laundering) compliance, and risk mitigation. ‘Know Your …’ processes (KYX) ensure businesses are not unknowingly facilitating illegal activities.

This session will explore the KYX processes – “Know Your Customer” (KYC), “Know Your Business” (KYB) and “Know Your Agent/Asset” (KYA), why they are essential pillars for maintaining trust, security, and legal compliance within the financial ecosystem and the role trusted data plays in ensuring these processes combat financial crime, manage risk, and comply with global regulations.

Fraud isn’t just growing in volume; it’s changing in nature as digital interactions become more connected and time-sensitive. This evolution is driven by the rapid adoption of faster payments, online journeys, and automation.

This session will explore the changing fraud landscape, key developments in fraud prevention and the role of trusted data and applied intelligence.
