Yoo Soo-young Takes Office as 4th Head of Korea Credit Information Services First Leader From Finance Ministry Ranks; Three-Year Term
Yoo Soo-young, former spokesperson for South Korea’s finance ministry, has taken office as the fourth president of the Korea Credit Information Services (KCIS).
The KCIS said on the 10th that it appointed Yoo following a resolution by its general assembly. Yoo began the first day by touring each department to meet with staff. The term runs for three years.
“When I consider the weighty tasks of expanding inclusive finance and driving a fundamental shift toward productive finance, I feel a heavy sense of responsibility and mission,” Yoo said in an inaugural address. “As a data provider that the financial industry needs, we will do our utmost to leap forward as a future innovation infrastructure that accelerates the AI transformation, or AX, of the financial industry.”
Yoo instructed executives and employees to communicate actively with the industry to address the challenges facing the financial sector. Yoo also called for airtight management of data protection and security systems for the data the organization intensively manages, so that it can establish itself as a core financial data institution trusted by the public.
Yoo entered public service through the 39th administrative civil service examination and has served as director of the international organizations division, the price policy division and the future strategy bureau at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as well as spokesperson for the ministry. It is the first time an official from the finance ministry has been appointed to lead the KCIS.
