SBI Digital Trust signed a basic agreement on October 1 with South Korean payment service provider NICE Information & Telecommunication and blockchain infrastructure company DSRV to test a commercial model for transfers and payments between Japan and South Korea using stablecoins. According to Odaily, the pilot will use QR code payments by Japanese tourists at merchant locations affiliated with NICE Information & Telecommunication in South Korea and is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2026.
SBI Digital Trust will draw on its experience in Japan’s regulatory and financial sectors to design the payment plan, while NICE Information & Telecommunication will provide its merchant network and payment operations experience. DSRV will handle research related to blockchain technology. The three companies will assess future commercialization based on the test results and continue exploring stablecoin use cases in line with regulatory changes in each country.
