Dear Members,
The BIIA Newsletter May II – 2023 Issue is posted on this website. To download the document, please click on this link: BIIA Newsletter May II – 2023 Issue F
There are a number of developments which are worth mentioning:
Firstly, we have been asked repeatedly about the status of our global readership. During the period of April 27th to May 24th we had 3,738 unique visitors to www.biia.com from 50 countries with the largest visitor count. 96% came from 50 countries: The largest group was Asia with 46%, EMEA 27% and the Americas accounted for 27% of the readership (Source: Google Analytics).
Secondly, all major industry players have published their first quarter results. On page 3 is our regular chart indicating “What Grows, What does Not?” Many players retreated to single digit revenue growth rates. The winners with double digit rates are: Q1 2023 S&P Global buoyed by its IHS Markit acquisition (32%). Q1 2023 Zoominfo (24%), 2022 FY Creditsafe (29%) and FY 2023 GBGroup (15%).
Thirdly, Experian published its annual report for fiscal year 2023 (year ended March 31st, 2023). The message by its CEO is noteworthy: “Our past investments in data, technology, new products, client service and talent have enhanced our competitive position, resulting in significant new business wins. At the same time, the expansion of our product portfolio has positioned many of our businesses to address higher growth opportunities and over the years we have expanded existing vertical markets and entered new segments.” A remarkable result with an annual revenue growth rate of 8% (constant currency).
Fourth, AI appears to be on the mind of everyone thus it will be our focal point for the foreseeable future. The Financial Time’s editor Roula Khalaf has shared her current thinking on the use of generative artificial intelligence in the newsroom (page 8). We also discovered in the FT a summary of opinions concerning “Finding the Right Technology to Gain more insights into Risk.”
Fifth: The End of ‘Londongrad’ explains how Britain has the lead amongst nations in the fight against financial crime (starting point with the mandatory disclosure of beneficial ownership).
