BIIA reported recently that China has established the world’s largest online data platform to store court case information. The platform currently contains information from 91 million cases.

china-public-sector-court-recordsThe government is strengthening measures designed to make life difficult for debtors, specifically people in contempt of court to encourage them to respect verdicts.  China Daily News reports recently that a debtor attempted to purchase a plane ticket by credit card and found out quickly that the credit card transaction was rejected because the District People’s Court in the autonomous region of Mongolia had added the debtor’s name to the online list of defaulters.  The court had imposed a number of restrictions such as a ban on buying rail or plane tickets.

The system is working and no doubt will foster good credit practices and transparency
